Check-in Procedure

Passengers’ obligations regarding tickets (excerpt from Article 3 of the SPP):

  • To have a valid Ticket at the start of the journey, throughout the entire journey, and at the time of alighting from the Carrier’s vehicle, which means:
    • board the vehicle with a prepared, pre-purchased ticket and validate it in the ticket validator immediately upon boarding;
    • or have a time-limited ticket purchased in advance (prepaid pass);
    • or have a document or pass entitling them to free transportation or transportation at a reduced fare;
    • or, if the passenger has a sufficient balance in the Electronic Wallet on the PK or Pilsenská mini card, or a sufficient balance in the BK account, the passenger is required to check in immediately after boarding the vehicle at the check-in device;
    • or, in the case of using an SMS ticket or purchasing a ticket via VPK, the passenger is required to board the vehicle with a received and valid SMS ticket on their mobile phone, or a received and valid ticket within the VPK mobile app.
  • Immediate validation means that after boarding, the passenger immediately proceeds to the nearest validation device, without sitting down, searching for an unvalidated ticket or PK/PJ/BK to purchase, making a phone call, or performing any other activity unrelated to the passenger’s immediate (instant) check-in.
  • If a passenger is transporting a bicycle, scooter, or live animals, they must have a valid ticket for them as well, unless they are being transported free of charge.
  • A passenger who has topped up their prepaid pass for the current period or added transport points to their Electronic Wallet in the Pilsenská karta E-shop is required to validate this transaction either before boarding or immediately after boarding the Carrier’s vehicle.
  • Follow the instructions and orders of the Carrier’s Authorized Personnel aimed at ensuring the safety and smooth flow of transport or the safety of persons.
  • Keep the Ticket stored in such a way that it can be inspected at any time during the journey and upon exiting the vehicle.

If the ticket validator or check-in device is occupied or out of service, the passenger shall use the next nearest functional device in the Carrier’s vehicle. If it is not possible to check in at the Check-in Device, the passenger is required to use another type of check-in or, if necessary, exit the vehicle at the nearest stop.

Transport Inspection Procedure

Excerpt from Article 2 of the SPP:

  • Upon request by an Authorized Person, the passenger is required to present a valid Ticket or provide a PK, VPK, or other document for inspection. If they fail to comply with this obligation, they are required to pay the fare and a fare surcharge, unless otherwise specified in these SPP, or provide the personal information necessary to record the fare evasion for the purpose of potential enforcement of payment of the fare and the fare surcharge.
  • At the request of an Authorized Person, the passenger is required to remain in the vehicle or at another designated location for the entire duration of the proceedings regarding the Fare Surcharge or violation of the Transportation Regulations. However, to continue the journey, it is necessary to purchase a ticket.
  • If the passenger fails to provide the required personal information, they are required, upon request by the Authorized Person, to follow the Authorized Person to an appropriate public administration office to verify their identity, or to remain at a suitable location until the arrival of a person authorized to verify the passenger’s identity. If the passenger disregards the Authorized Person’s request and leaves the location, the Authorized Person is authorized to detain them by reasonable means.
  • Authorized transport inspection staff may be equipped with audio recording devices. These devices are used to ensure the safety of passengers and inspectors, to document the course of the transport inspection, and to resolve complaints or incidents. The processing of personal data is based on the legitimate interest of PMDP pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of Regulation (EU) 2016 / 679 (GDPR). Records are retained for a period of 30 days. Records may be disclosed to public authorities (e.g., the Czech Police, courts, municipal police) only on the basis of legal authorization.

Identification of Authorized Personnel

  • When checking the validity of tickets, the authorized person identifies themselves with an inspection badge. Upon a passenger’s request, they also present an inspection ID card along with the badge. Both identification numbers must match.

  • The authorized person is equipped with a recording device and may record the entire course of the transport inspection, including communication with passengers. The recording device may also be used at the Carrier’s fare adjustment counter.
