Starting Monday, May
11–
2026, reconstruction of Americká Street began, which includes its conversion into a mixed-use pedestrian zone. As a result, one of the main thoroughfares in the center of Pilsen will be closed for an extended period, and there will be significant changes to public transit
bus and
trolleybus routes, including night routes.
Affected public transport routes
The changes affect the following daytime bus routes: 20, 27, 34; the following trolleybus routes: 10 through 17 (with the exception of the variations on routes 13 and 14); and all PMDP night routes.
Main principle of the changes
- Americká Street will be closed to public transit during the reconstruction.
- Most routes will be rerouted to the Kopeckého sady and Smetanovy sady areas, or via Husova, Koperníkova, Borská, and U Trati streets.
- The U Práce and Mrakodrap stops are canceled.
- The main alternative transfer hub in the city center will be in the area of the Belánka, Muzeum, and Smetanovy sady stops.
- The scope of service (intervals and operating hours) remains unchanged for most lines; only routes and stops are being altered.
Bus routes
The daytime bus lines 20, 27, and 34 will be rerouted via Kopeckého and Smetanovy sady. Additionally, line 27 will be routed via Otýlie Beníškové Street and Náměstí Republiky when heading toward the city center. Line 34 will terminate at Pětatřicátníků Park when coming from Orlík.
Night bus lines N1 through N6 will be rerouted in both directions away from Americká Street via Kopeckého and Smetanovy sady. Lines N11 and N12 will now start at the Muzeum stop in Kopeckého sady.
The scope of bus service remains unchanged.
Trolleybus lines
10 will run in both directions via Belánka and terminate at the CAN Husova stop.
11 and 16 will be rerouted via Smetanovy sady and Husova Street. 12, 15, and 17 will run on a detour via U Trati Street and Borská Street.
Night trolleybus line N7 will run via Smetanovy sady and Husova Street and will now terminate at the Muzeum stop.
Lines 13 and 14 will serve passengers in both directions at the Prokopova stop on Prokopova Street for the duration of the closure.
