Tariff zones

When traveling by public transport, it is important to pay attention to the fare zones you are traveling in. In practice, you may encounter two different ways of dividing fare zones, which serve different purposes. It is therefore good to know when each system applies.

Fare zones P and V when traveling by public transport

When traveling exclusively on our connections, we use a simplified division into two zones:
  • Zone P (Pilsen) – applies to travel within the city of Pilsen,
  • Zone V (outer zones) – applies to travel outside the city of Pilsen.
We use this P/V division primarily to simplify communication with passengers and it only applies to individual fares. Each ticket is only valid for the zone for which it was purchased. However, it is possible to purchase a single ticket for both fare zones (so-called P + V).

Border stops between zones

There are so-called border stops between zones P and V, which determine where one fare zone ends and the other begins.

The border stop is always the last stop in zone 001 – Pilsen before leaving the city of Pilsen. Every subsequent stop when traveling outside Pilsen falls within the outer zone V.

How can you recognize a border stop?

Border stops are marked:

Practical examples

  • Border stop: Koterov
  • When traveling from Pilsen to the Koterov stop, a ticket for zone P is sufficient.
  • When traveling beyond this stop, passengers must have, in addition to a ticket for zone P:
    • a single ticket for zone V, or
    • a valid pass covering zone 061 Šťáhlavy
  • When traveling from Starý Plzenec to the Koterov stop, a ticket for zone V is sufficient.
  • When traveling beyond this stop, passengers must have, in addition to a ticket for zone V:
    • a single ticket for zone P, or
    • a valid pass covering zone 001 Pilsen
Line 34 – Třemošná
  • Border stop: Orlík
  • When traveling from Pilsen to the Orlík stop, a ticket for zone P is sufficient.
  • When traveling beyond this stop to Třemošná, passengers must have, in addition to a ticket for zone P:
    • a single ticket for zone V, or
    • a valid pass covering zone 021 Třemošná
  • When traveling from Třemošná to the Orlík stop, a ticket for zone V is sufficient.
  • When traveling beyond this stop, passengers must have, in addition to a ticket for zone V:
    • a single ticket for zone P, or
    • a valid season ticket covering zone 001 Pilsen
Line 56 – Město Touškov
  • Border stop: Chebská
  • When traveling from Pilsen to the Chebská stop, a ticket for zone P is sufficient.
  • When traveling beyond this stop to Kozolupy or Město Touškov, passengers must have, in addition to a ticket for zone P:
    • a single ticket for zone V, or
    • a valid pass covering zone 121 Touškov
  • When traveling from Město Touškov or Kozolupy to the Chebská stop, a ticket for zone V is sufficient.
  • When traveling beyond this stop, passengers must have, in addition to a ticket for zone V:

IDPK fare zones – especially important for season tickets

In addition to zones P and V, there is also an official fare division for Integrated Transport in the Pilsen Region (IDPK). The entire Pilsen Region is divided into numerically designated fare zones (e.g., 021, 061, 121, etc.). This division is used mainly for season tickets.

We only use the simplified P / V designation:
  • for our vehicles,
  • for individual fares.
However, for prepaid tickets, it is always necessary to know the specific IDPK fare zone to which the passenger's destination belongs geographically (e.g., Starý Plzenec – fare zone 061, Město Touškov – fare zone 121, Třemošná – fare zone 021).

When traveling with a subscription, passengers must purchase all fare zones that the vehicle passes through during the journey. For more information, visit the Integrated Transport of the Pilsen Region website. We especially recommend the fare calculator, which will show you exactly which zones are needed to travel on a given route.

Specifics of night bus lines N11 and N12

Special rules apply to night bus lines N11 and N12, which continue outside the city shortly after leaving the center of Pilsen.

When boarding at the Mrakodrap or U Práce stops, passengers must already have a valid ticket for zones P and V. The reason for this is that the next stop on line N11 is already in Starý Plzenec, and the next stop on line N12 is already in Vejprnice. Passengers must therefore have the necessary tickets when boarding, not when leaving the city.

All public transport lines passing through multiple fare zones

The following lines pass through multiple fare zones:
  • 12 – Letkov
  • 20 – Zruč-Senec
  • 26 – Nová Ves
  • 34 – Třemošná
  • 50 – Starý Plzenec
  • 51 – Starý Plzenec
  • 56 – Vochov, Kozolupy, Town of Touškov
  • 58 – Třemošná, Zruč-Senec

  • N12 – Vejprnice, Sulkov, Líně, Zbůch, Chotěšov, Stod

Recommendation

If a passenger does not have a valid ticket for all zones they are traveling through, they risk being charged a surcharge. We therefore recommend that you always check the following before traveling:
  • the route of the line,
  • the fare zones through which the line passes,
  • the validity of your ticket or pass.
If you are unsure which ticket you need, use:
